About Unity Unity was formed in the late 1800s by co-founders Charles and Myrtle Filmore. Charles Filmore often described Unity as "practical Christianity" or "applied Christianity". Inotherwords, he wanted Unity to provide a deep understanding of the teachings of Jesus Christ, so these teachings could be applied to every phase of our daily lives. As we come more in harmony with these teachings, our lives are filled with more health, happiness, security, prospertity, and our relationships are more fulfilling. The essence of Unity beliefs are:

Christ Church Unity provides a loving, transformative environment for prayer, study, service and fellowship using the practical teachings of Jesus Christ to heal lives and actualize dreams. At Christ Church Unity, we affirm these core Unity beliefs:
Liberation is the invitation at Christ Church Unity. Liberation from unnecessary difficulties in our lives, brought on by the "seeds of thought" we consciously, and subconsciously, planted in the past. By inviting new understanding, we can learn to think differently, and constantly improve the choices we make in our lives. We call this working in alignment with God's Universal Law. Just as important, we encourage and offer techniques that make us more aware of the close personal contact we have with God's Spirit within. We realize that it is critical to recognize the intimate, immediate relationship each of us already has with God. Yet choice is always ours. There are no must do's, have to's, or ought to's from Christ Church Unity. And there is no one to follow. In fact, we emphasize and honor the fact that each person's ultimate guidance is unique to them alone and must come from within. Unity does not claim a special revelation. We realize that self mastery can be achieved along many pathways. Therefore we honor the wisdom found in diverse traditions. We believe that all people are created with sacred worth and we recognize the divinity within every person and within ourselves. We also realize the importance of serving all people in spiritually and emotionally caring ways. We strive for our ministry and its programs to reach out to all who seek Unity support and spiritual growth. It is also imperative that our church be free from all discrimination of race, color, gender, age, creed, religion, national origin, ethnicity, physical disability, or sexual orientation.
