VIBRATIONAL TUNE-UP

Authorship of the Old Testament book of Psalms is attributed to King David. David wrote poems and songs to express heartfelt love and total devotion to the God of his understanding. Many of us find inspiration, comfort, peace and understanding in the Psalms, as we turn to Davids love songs to God.

Let me share excerpts from Psalm 139:

"O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when Im far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say, even before I say it, Lord.

You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there;if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mothers womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marveloushow well I know it."

We are wonderfully complex! But sometimes our complexity can feel more overwhelming than wonderful. Life is consciousness, but we did not come with an owners manual. So, much of our life process has been trial & error, and learn-as-you-go.

The mystical teachings of Kabbalah postulate that only 1% of what we are, lives as the local self in the manifest realm. 99% of what we are is unmanifest Source Energy, and we are always connected to that Infinite Spiritual Power which is the Cosmic Self. The 1% realm is the Leading Edge, where we agreed to Be to bring thought to where it has never been before. That was our mission. Here, in the manifest realm we can experience the contrast which offers the opportunity to allow more Source Energy to express here and now in time and space.

Imagine how it must have felt to your soul to incarnate into a physical body and emerge into the Relative Plane. It went from boundless, expnasive freedom, into a finite physical vessel that was, at first, totally dependent on the external world for its survival and comfort. In order to facilitate the shift into physical form, we had to lose sight of our 99% nature. In that way we could learn to navigate in the 3rd dimensional realm by staying focused on the Sense Plane and all of its demands.

Abraham-Hicks calls this the Action Journey in the material realm. First, we learn how to operate the human body, and to interact with the people around us to find our place in the world. Then we learn by remembering how to work with Cosmic Law.

For years I have been studying and teaching the role of the Law of Mind Action in the evolution of consciousness: Thoughts held in mind produce after their kind. Right thinking produces right action. Although I have been a student of Unity teachings for nearly four decades, and a Unity minister for the past quarter century, I had a lingering feeling that I was still missing the satisfaction and fulfillment that I have been seeking. In spite of earnest and devoted application of metaphysical teachings, I had a gnawing sense that something was still missing.

Then suddenly the Abraham-Hicks teachings shifted my awareness, and all the wonderful concepts and theories I had learned over a lifetime became clearer. What seemed to be missing from my previous understanding was the role of the Law of Attraction in creating my experiences, and the part that emotion plays in activating this Law in my life.

In this lifetime, I had come to consider that feelings were non-rational, and therefore more of an impediment than a help in demonstrating the life I longed to live. What had originally appealed to me about New Thought was the logical presentation that emphasizes the creative power of positive thinking. However, I had little comprehension of the power of the emotional vibration to determine the range, quality and power of the thoughts I held in mind.

In the material presented by Esther Hicks, the pivotal role of emotion became clear to me for the first time, and its relationship to the activity of the Law of Attraction. Emotions are our vibratory state. The Law of Attractions responds by drawing to us that which is like our emotional vibration. In order to walk the path of mastery in the external action realm, we must practice mastery on the internal Emotional Path.

For the last 9 months we have been studying the Abraham teachings that invite us to practice the Art of Allowing, right where we are, just as we are. Allowing what? Allowing more of the Unmanifest Source Energy of our Being to express in, through and as the local self. How? We do this by becoming more conscious and deliberate creators. Deliberate creators of what? We deliberately create our emotional journey, independent of whatever is going on in the Action Path.

Then we begin to discover that the Law of Attraction always renders our emotions causative to our experiences. Before, we allowed whatever was going on in our life from moment to moment, to determine our emotions. Now we see that we have the power to deliberately re-set our emotional tone, and select feelings that increase our awareness of, and reliance on the 99% of us which is unmanifest Source Energy, and which is an unending, ever-present current of infinite love and well-being. Thats how we practice the art of Allowing Higher Power to sustain and empower us--right where we are, here at our leading edge.

Once I got this teaching, I joyfully set myself to exploring the casual relationship between my emotional and action journey. I have been practicing identifying where I find myself from moment to moment on the emotional scale, and then deliberately reaching for a feeling that feels better--and that is within my reach. In this process, I have also discovered that there are emotional circuits or patterns of emotion that keep getting activated over and over by outer circumstances.

Yes, I can reset my emotional tone at will-by choice, from moment to moment. And isnt interesting to recognize that I am continually, and habitually drawn back into the same old feelings.

So, I turned to the Manager and said: Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Then I asked for more light on my Emotional nature. What came to mind was an image of a violin. I went with the image and it expanded into this awareness.

The bow that strums the violin is the action that activates the notes. The bow expresses the action that generates the vibration. And the violin, itself, is what offers the instrument of your emotions.

Remember that it is not just the bow that determines the sound, but the placement of the fingers of the violinist on the strings. I am not very musical, and did not even know how many strings are on a violin. Therefore could not see the image of the violin clearly in my imagination. So I went to Ask.Com on the computer and downloaded a picture of a violin --with four strings.

This is what my manager revealed to me: If you are continually hearing the same flat notes, it is because your emotional instrument needs tuning!! (This was my guidance, so always I remind you to take what you like and leave the rest.)

The first string on the violin represents sympathy. Sympathy having common feelings, it is a relationship between persons wherein whatever affects one similarly affects the other. An example is if someone stubs his toe, you can sympathize with the pain because you have had a similar experience.

Some people are high strung, reactive. And some people are slack and almost unstrung and unresponsive. If your sympathy string is too tight, you will be overly sympathetic--and that can make you a hypochondriac that takes on whatever pain or discomfort you encounter in the world. By contrast, if the string is too loose, you will not resonate or sympathize with others and even have little sympathy for yourself.

The second string on the violin represents Empathy. Empathy is the action of being aware of, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another, although it is not objectively your own. For example you can empathize with someones disappointment. Though you may not have been disappointed in the same way, you can commiserate with their emotions. A high strung empathy, can make a person intrusive by habitually minding other peoples circumstances and even projecting their own emotions upon others. By contrast, not enough empathy can make a person self-absorbed, callous and indifferent.

The third string on the violin is symbolic of compassion. Compassion is the consciousness of others' distress--together with a desire to alleviate it. For example, although someones circumstances may be totally unfamiliar to you, compassion inspires you with a desire lighten their load. If compassion is high strung and over active, that can lead to missionary zeal. You might always be on the lookout for distress, looking for victims and always ready to run to the rescue. If compassion is slack, though you are filled with the most noble good intentions, you might be disengaged from showing up to actually make a difference where it is appropriate.

Thankfully, the fourth string on our instrument never needs tuning. That perfectly calibrated aspect of our emotional instrument is Agape or Spiritual Love. Spiritual love is the unselfish, loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another and for the good of all--including yourself!

This is what I understood from the instruction I received. Not only do I get to choose where I place my fingers on the viloin to play the notes and emotional tones that I choose. I also have the ability to adjust my instrument, so that the notes I play are clear and harmonized, and my violin strings are tuned to the vibration of love.

Learn to hear the note and pitch of Agape Love. Tune up your instrument to express more emotional harmony, peace and well being as you play the symphony of your life!
